Agriculture is a foundational pillar of Vietnam's economy, playing a critical role in job creation, particularly in its vast rural areas where it employs a large population segment. Vietnam is recognized as a leading global exporter of rice, coffee, and seafood due to its rich, fertile landscapes and favorable climatic conditions, positioning it as a significant player in the global rice market.
Despite its importance, Vietnam's agricultural sector encounters significant challenges, including the substantial impacts of climate change and natural disasters on production, complications from land ownership issues and the dominance of small-scale farming that obstructs productivity enhancements, and the pressing need for a shift towards more sustainable and higher-value agricultural practices to stay competitive globally.
In response, Vietnam is rapidly transitioning to modernize its agricultural practices, aiming to boost productivity and sustainability. This shift involves the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies, such as the use of drones, intelligent farming applications, and sophisticated irrigation systems, to address and overcome these challenges.
The discussion seeks to bridge agriculture with the industrial sector, examining innovative ways to merge these traditionally distinct areas to boost productivity and sustainable growth. The conversation will cover various aspects, including farming, processing, packaging, distribution, input supply, and research & development, showcasing how these intersections can foster innovation and sustainability in agriculture. This session will also touch on strategies for enhancing and providing additional support for utilization of advanced technological practices in agriculture, with potential direct implications on the agricultural economy of Vietnam.
In this session, we are honored to be joined by a distinguished panel comprising individuals with diverse backgrounds and expertise:
