In Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference Singapore 2020, we are pleased to announce our keynote speaker for Skin Health for Southeast Asians session: Dr. Reid Lim.
AI and Mankind: Building an Equitable Future for Global Healthcare with MEDGIC
Dr. Lim is the founder of MEDGIC which stands for Medical Good Intelligence Company. Besides being a founder of MEDGIC, Dr. Lim is also a medical doctor and a researcher. MEDGIC is an AI company dedicated to transcending tomorrow’s healthcare by building the world’s largest neural network for skin pathology. It is able to detect skin conditions through its unique AI capabilities.
Dr. Lim studied at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in National University of Singapore (NUS) and graduated with a MBBS (NUS) and GDFM (NUS). A doctor by training, Dr. Lim began his career in various tertiary hospitals around Singapore.
Being an avid adventurer, he has travelled to over 50 countries across all continents. On multiple occasion, he had first hand encounters with many rural communities, witnessing the abject dearth of healthcare access and standards. This impacted him greatly and shaped his interest to disrupt the current norms in healthcare for a greater good.
According to World Health Organization, half of the world has no access to healthcare and many more are pushed into poverty to pay for the spiralling healthcare bills. Therefore Dr. Lim believes in harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to forge a better and fairer future for global healthcare. The democratization of healthcare is much needed as all nations from third to first-world struggle with a growing global population compounded by burgeoning healthcare costs.
Dr. Lim believes a life worth living is to spend it on a cause that will last beyond one's mortal lifespan. MEDGIC is Dr Lim's life purpose - and he sincerely believes that it would be the first step towards a better future for all mankind.
Quoted from Dr. Lim “AI is a gift from Machines, to all mankind on Earth.”
